The difference between a suite and a room

If you need some time off in order to relax, you are probably thinking to go on a holiday trip. If you have the means, you may want to book a luxury hotel this time. Honeymoon, anniversary wedding, a special date...: don't miss the occasion! But you are now hesitating between a stay in a suite or in a room?

A full-comfort room always includes a large bed (at least a queen size but it can be king size), a little desk and/or night tables, a TV, a dresser and a bathroom fully equipped with a hairdryer, soap and shampoo samples as well as towels and a bathrobe.

A suite is much more like a tiny apartment where you can benefit from a full-comfort stay. It often includes multiple rooms. There is obviously a large bedroom –where you can find the same accommodations as in a simple room plus several extras– which is isolated from other facilities such as the bathroom, the living room where you can invite people and so on. Sometimes, in the most prestigious hotels, you will even have your own dining room.

If you're looking for luxury on a budget, consider a junior suite, which offers more space and services than a standard room but is smaller than a luxury suite. For longer stays, a residential suite offers apartment-like features, including a dining room, bar, and kitchen. The ultimate in luxury, however, is the presidential suite, typically occupying an entire top floor with the best views.

Information about these hotels in Brussels

Before your booking, do not forget to check what kind of services you need and if they are included in the price. Most rooms come with the Wi-Fi, television and a private bathroom. For other services, you have several options like the half board and full board which give you access to the restaurant whether it's just for breakfast or for the different meals of the day. If you are planning a business trip, it will be easier to find a spot where there is a bar, a restaurant and even meeting rooms so you won't have to look for other places.

If you are planning a city trip to visit Brussels whether with your friends or your family, it may be easier to find a place located in the centre of the city. It is the best way to avoid traffic jams in case you came with your own car or decided to rent one. As the city centre is quite small, it is even possible to walk. In comparison to other cities, Brussels may be small, but it is still useful to check if the hotel is near the places you want to visit during your stay. Among the most visited attractions, there will be the Great Market (Grand Place), the Manneken Pis, the Atomium, the Royal Palace and many museums. There is a big public transport network linking every one of these sites. If you are coming with your car, make sure the hotel has a parking lot for customers only.

You may be sure you want to go now, we never know what can happen in the few weeks or months until the departure date. It is always a good idea to have a look at the cancellation policy or take out a cancellation insurance to cover whatever problem that may happen. In case something unexpected occurs (such as a flight cancelled, an accident, too much work, a quarantine...), you will get back your money or at least a part of it. Indeed, a lot of hotels do not refund if they are warned too late. Also, do not forget to read the terms and conditions to see what kinds of situations are considered valid in their refund policy.
